Why don't mobile phone manufacturers delay launching under-camera phones? Careful analysis, I understand!

Information

With the popularization of full screens, a large number of models equipped with water drop screens and bangs screens have emerged in the mobile phone market. I think these designs are very ugly. At present, the best solution on the market is to use a lifting lens, but with this design, the maintenance cost will become very expensive. Previously, there have been reports that the under-screen camera technology has been successfully developed, but to this day, no model has used this technology. Why is this?

The off-screen camera, as the name suggests, hides the front-facing camera below the screen. When we don't use the front-facing camera, images can be displayed on the screen. It is equivalent to a piece of light-transmissive glass, which can display patterns and allow the camera to shoot through the glass, which makes it very demanding on the screen.

LCD and AMOLED are the most commonly used screens in the mobile phone market. To realize the under-screen camera, the mobile phone screen must be very thin. However, the thickness of the screen is generally above 1.7 millimeters, and this thickness cannot be met. The AMOLED screen can be reduced to about 0.5 to 1.8 mm. Although "LCD will never be a slave", to achieve an under-screen camera, currently only AMOLED or a thinner screen can be selected.

However, the AMOLED screen is still too thick for the under-screen camera. Due to the obstacles and current technology and cost constraints, reducing the thickness of the screen not only has a low success rate, but also is easily damaged during the production of the screen. Therefore, mass production cannot be achieved at present.

Earlier OPPO and Xiaomi have shown models equipped with an under-screen camera. Both models have not been mass-produced, because if this fragile hardware is used, it will not only increase the cost of later maintenance, but also increase the cost of Cost of production. So far, there are no mass-produced models for sale, Xiaobian also looks forward to this day, after all, looking at this bangs and water drop screen is really uncomfortable.
